![]() ![]() I feel like music is a great way to express yourself. I like to have records like that, and I like to have records like “Thief ” it's really all out there and I'm dancing and singing and moving and dressed in leather. I want to have moments where it’s very stripped down, and very personal - just me and a piano and I'm singing. Within it being my project, there will be different characters. It's hard work putting one three and a half minute song together.ĪE: I want to be genuine with everybody and I want to be myself. I felt like it was my puzzle and I got to put the pieces together. But, it was very much my vision, which is a lot of fun. They have certain people help them, they don't do everything themselves. I guess making a song or album, it's like a director or producer making a movie. CJ Barron also helped me with the writing. From Kyle Tree to Tom Norris, they helped me with the final production of the song. What drives you to be so involved?ĪE: It was all my vision, but I have to say, it was not all by myself. TV: It also speaks to the fact that you’ve been very hands-on throughout your music career. It's great when you're able to make art with people that you like. I'm really proud of my brother I don't think he could've done better. We really had to work together to get this out. We were up with the colorist pretty far at night and would go ten hours into the morning. We had multiple nights where we were up with the editor until 6:00 a.m. TV: Was there any one moment in the process of creating the video that will stick in your mind?ĪE: It's brought me and my brother really close. ![]() To me, she is the ideal woman in many ways, but also just the way that she looks in the video - I can't take my eyes off her when I watch it. It was great working with Violetta obviously because there's no one else I'd rather work with, and also no one else I'd rather see in the video. I haven't seen a lot of videos like it recently. I think it feels very real and very different. I'm extremely ecstatic with how it turned out. My brother directed it, and my girlfriend was the leading lady. Why did you choose to keep the collaboration process literally in the family?ĪE: It was very DIY the video came together very quickly and very last minute, and not with a very large budget. TV: Your music video not only stars Violetta, but is directed by your brother Warren Elgort, and your sister Sophie Elgort took the photos. ![]()
